On July 9th Governor Abbott called a Special Session of the 89th Legislature and charged the Legislature to consider and act on 18 issues. One of these issues is one of our legislative priorities for the enforcement of the Election Code. Gov. Abbott specifically calls for “Legislation proposing a constitutional amendment allowing the Attorney General to prosecute state election crimes.” While legislators may file numerous bills concerning elections, the only ones that may be heard are those that pertain directly to the directive.
